Hello! I'm Bill Kincaid, and I would like to show you a bit of what I can do for your business. As an independent designer, I will devote myself to increasing your sales and productivity as well as providing you with a consistent professional image. From your basic identity (logos, signage, business stationery, forms and more) to advertising (magazine, newspaper, website and other media) to promotional items and the T-shirts for the company picnic I can help! In fact, I've probably done something similar to your next project before, and I have the industry contacts to assist you not only with your design needs, but also in taking that design to the real world in as cost-effective a manner as possible.
First, a little background: in the Seventies, I attended N. C. State University where I
majored in mechanical engineering with a minor in English; I hoped to move into the
field of technical writing. This led to many years working in career areas related to
my engineering studies, but I had been introduced to computers as well. Suffice it to
say that those early days of Fortran and Cobol had nothing whatsoever to do with
graphic arts what I remember most clearly is standing in line with a stack of punch-
cards at the Computer Center, waiting for an operator to process my crude program-
ming. Then, in 1980, a college friend bought an Apple ][+, mostly because he was a
mainframe programmer and systems analyst who wanted a "toy" for home use. I
spent many nights at his apartment, learning all I could about this fascinating new
technology. He soon purchased a new IBM XT for compatability with his professional
work, and then traded me the little Apple for a '61 Volkswagen Beetle.
In the meantime, I had been approached by several people who were aware that I had
the artistic ability and drafting experience to produce some simple business cards
and signs. After rendering several of these by hand, I soon turned to the budding
computer graphics field and taught myself to use the tools available. As time passed,
I found myself producing more and more design work, with my own limitations in
education being the only roadblock. So, inevitably, I returned to college for a degree in
Advertising and Graphic Design. Upon graduating (with high honors), I took a position
as Advertising Director for an entrepreneur who owned several businesses, including a
multiple-line auto dealership. Following his death and some major reorganizations of his
companies, I found myself without a position and became an independent contractor.
Here are some representative pieces from the automotive business, from business cards to billboards. During my tenure, I did my best to avoid the near-universal "cars-in-boxes" look of auto ads
So, how does all of this relate to what I can offer you? First, I am an expert with design software: I have been using the industry-standard programs like Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign since their inception, and was using their predecessors long before. Second, I have produced material for print, radio, TV, theater, online and more. Finally, I.have no hidden agendas; I simply want you and your business to prosper so that we can build an ongoing business relationship.
I maintain a modern home office with several Macintoshes running state-of-the-art software, multiple printers, a high-speed broadband connection and more so that I can.fulfill your design goals. Take a look at these samples, and I think you'll find something relevent to your needs.
At the same time, I was also acting as Advertising and Marketing Director for Fast Company, a manufacturer of motorcycle clothing featuring Kevlar®-lined Draggin' Jeans®. Here I produced everything from garment tags, labels and T-shirts to the company ecommerce site. Not only was it a lot of fun working with the motorcycle stuff (I'm an avid rider myself), but I got paid to draw dragons as well!
I had the opportunity to design all of the materials for a reading campaign sponsored by local colleges and libraries. These include posters, a brochure, postcards and a bookmark. We included common citizens as well as local celebrities like NASCAR driver Dale Jarrett and University of Texas basketball coach Rick Barnes.
The Big Read campaign led to an ongoing relationship with Lenoir-Rhyne College (now Lenoir-Rhyne University) where I have designed diverse projects: from mailers to programs to newspaper ads. I even designed their first NC license plate.
Lenoir-Rhyne has also entrusted me with the design duties for their alumni magazine: Profile starting in 2007.
You can see the full issues at their website: http://www.lrc.edu/news/profile/
Designing for the university has led to other opportunities. I redesigned the second edition of Dr. Lorene Painter's biography of her husband, Hanley Painter, former football & baseball coach and Athletic Director for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Southeast Tool is a distributor of tooling for the woodworking industry. I produced their latest catalog and price lists in both print and online forms.
Held USA is an importer and distributor of motorcycle clothing and accessories. I have been involved with their print advertising as well as their ecommerce site.
Of course there are many other clients. I have been responsible for everything from wedding invitations to corporate identity packages, maps to window/door stickers, icons to CD covers and much, much more.
Last, here are some samples of my artwork. While my specialty is fractal-based abstracts, I've also done several science fiction themed works and some more traditional pieces.
No matter what your graphic needs are, I'm here to help.
