Geometrics are exactly what you thought– there are rigid structures as the underlying layout element in each of them. To keep from getting bored by their repeating shapes, I may use an angled or perspective view. And, while these patterns may repeat, I try not to be constrained to keeping colors totally consistent. I like to vary the lighting as well.
